Beautiful mid-century sculpture by Isabel Case Borgatta. Number 65 of 500. In excellent condition. Material is possibly marble or alabaster, but the artist often used limestone. A very heavy material. There is a hole on the underside for mounting. About the artist: Isabel Case Borgatta (1921- ) Based in New York City, sculptor Isabel Case Borgatta was born in Madison, Wisconsin in 1921, receiving the D'Orsay Prize from the National Association of Women Artists in 1952. She also was given the Jacques Lipschitz Award in 1961; Yaddo fellowships in 1971 and 1973; a fellowship from the Virginia Center for Creative Arts in 1985 and 1992; and a Greek government grant in 1990 to work in Delphi. Borgatta's education included 1938-1940 at Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts... Her works can be found in private collections, museums, fine art auctions. This is an investment quality piece of art.
